MYNY

MYNY

To create a furniture piece set for the new Inkaterra Hotel located in Machu Picchu, that has an aim of being minimalist and modern. This piece is to be made out of a material that, if not used, is destined to be trash; the incorporation of sand glass in concrete. The aesthetics are dragged from the inspiration of one of the main Cuzco archeological wonders:Moray. Using semantics for its forms, these are meant to unconsciously invite the guests of the new hotel to the Cuzco beauties.

This side table is inspired by New York, a city I lived in for four years and that deeply shaped the way I see design. Its compact, vertical form references the city’s buildings, while the stepped cuts reflect the apparent chaos of the skyline — a kind of disorder that somehow always feels intentional.

The contrast between light and dark wood represents the mix that defines New York: old and new, shadow and light, structure and movement. It’s a piece about finding rhythm and balance within complexity.
